Since the thread sort of devolved into charity discussion, I'd like to encourage Americans who are donating toward Japanese relief to also consider donating to local worthy charities. I've got nothing against helping the Japanese people but there are so many worthy causes and desperate people who are a lot closer to home.

Don't get me started on folks who donate to animal causes but never to 'people' causes...
