The Sony readers go to sleep when not being used. Battery life is not as good as Kindle, but it's good enough for most people.
The full weight of my decision wasn't based only on your opinions. Mostly it seemed a frivolous expenditure as the 350 and the QT7 happily meet all my e-reading needs. The 650 would just be a bit more sophisticated/larger version of the 350.

I meant the K3 light integrated with the K3 cover...it goes off when the K3 goes to sleep. This is not the case with the integrated light on the 350 cover; you have to physically turn it off on mine.

Battery life is seldom a consideration for me as I do most of my reading at home. The battery life on the QT7 is abysmal and I still love it!
