I agree with you on the specs. First, this is actually a
good amount of tech for the money. And secondly, for $100 (and some people have paid less), you're not going to get an iPad. You're just
not.
On the other hand, I
can see people complaining about the build quality. Cheap materials for the money, I can understand, but once you've
got the materials, there's really no excuse for putting them together in a slipshod way. Now, I have no complaints about the build quality of the device I have now (even though I had to return one for an exchange before I got this one), but if someone's got a noticeably defective screen, I can understand them complaining about that. I would certainly take it back for an exchange if I felt that way.
