Traffic to our own site increased almost fifty-fold over the week, Rita. Like your own site, it became so heavy, we crashed once or twice at the weekend for the first time in ten years. And a special temporary address we set up to deal with RAEBW requests and related matters (RAEBW@bewrite.net) had high capacity, but went over quota within days. Quite incredible.

An unexpected thing happened, too, which still has us mystified. We offered any three or four free books from our catalogue to anyone who asked. Although there was an inevitable dramatic drop in actual sales at the start of the promotion, ebook sales at our own store and, it appears at our third-party retail sites, actually increased as the week went on.

Cheers. Neil
