I put the above in Title and author, made sure the isbn was empty and the metadata downloaded first attempt. Check your metadata download plugins (customize each) and make sure the appropriate boxes are checked.
If it doesn't work click the down arrow next to preferences and restart in debug mode. After it restarts try again and when you quit calibre the log file that pops up might give yoou some insight into what is going on.
