I finally fixed the library. But it wasn't a direct route. I issued the command calibredb restore_database -r --with-library=/media/Calibre/Fiction/. It resides on an NFS share. Looked liked it work. No joy. Still could not open the library. Restarted the server, NFS, etc. Still no joy. Finally took the server down and moved the USB drive to my desk where I copied the library directory to my local drive. I reissued the command (changing the path of course) and then there was joy. Copied it back to the USB drive and there was still joy. Moved the drive back to the server and it still worked. I mention all this so others don't give up easily. Rescue still may be possible. Why it didn't work on the server is now a quickly fading issue now that the library is fixed.
