The buttons are getting less hard to press with use. When I got the unit I my reaction was the same as yours. But after I read a few books whe button was not so hard to press anymore. I think the spring, or whatever they use, is getting more flexible. That is a better approach than make it easy at the start and to easy after a while so that pages start turning when you sneeze.
