Library books is not an overrated argument but more a personal choice or preference. But at the end, the kind of books that you are expecting to buy or read should be what ultimately helps with the hardware purchase.

However, Amazon selection is so big that you'll find even classics, for free or very low price.

Also, you can buy mobi books from other stores online or free non copyright classics. I'm mentioning this because people has the misconception that they are locked to Amazon and that's not true. Lot of my IT books are not from Amazon but O'reilly.
