I don't think so. A 6 inch screen is adequate for people who want to read novels, for scientific books it sucks. Since there is obviously a market for larger ebookreaders, probably even a bit larger than the DX, in my opinion it would be foolish to stop whit producing those larger ebookreaders. If anything I expect competitors to also produce larger ebookreaders.
Don't forget that the weight and the size are not an issue when you put the ebookreader on your desk, table or on your lap. I don't expect that that's an issue at all to the target group, you would have to do the same with an ordinary book, paper etc.
Even for novels a 6 inch screen is often too small to display an entire page, if you want a decent lettersize. I already heard a linguist complain about the fact that he finds it more difficult to read the texts because he can't see the division of the text in alinea's.
