I have to agree with Lemurion.

I bought a Nook Color on the ebay special..decided to give it a few weeks with the stock software before rooting.

I don't like reading books on it at all...I tried. The interface isn't great and I found the screen hard on my eyes. But I don't like long reading on my computer screen in general. I will stick with my e-ink readers for that. I think it would be great for kids books that rely on pictures.

While the browser works fine for a quick lookup, it's not something I would do a lot of surfing on and it's easier to get my emails on my phone. I signed up for my newspaper and a couple of magazines. I didn't like the newspaper and the jury is still out on the magazines. At first glance, I don't like the navigation to get to what I want but it may be just me getting used to/learning the tricks of the interface. I find skipping through the advertisements and constantly having to zoom on text very disruptive.

I think the real telling factor is that I am forcing myself to spend time on it...unusual for a new toy/gadget.

Unless B&N comes out with a much improved interface this month that opens up the functionality I need this month, I plan to root (just waiting for the official version of HC to become available for it). Despite it's software limitations, I love the hardware...so have no regrets because of the ability to easily root it.
