After about the sixth time I said, "But I could make that cheaper..." I think he decided that I probably could. So I found a pattern and started on me a nice new spring themed table set. I'm actually amazed at how much came back to me after I got started...it's been probably ten years at least since I touched a sewing machine.
You can see that it's not finished; I have to press it and slip stitch the end. There's also a ribbon or trim to be added between the print and solid.

Love that solid and print together!
I used to sew a lot, but these days I do mostly survival sewing. (Except at Christmas, when I make cloth gift bags for all my gifts instead of using wrapping paper. I've been doing it for over 30 years, I guess, so everybody would be disappointed if I just wrapped a present now!) Anyway, for a while I collected sewing machines. My favorite electric machines are Singer Featherweights -- they look like toys but sew beautifully. Most of my others are treadles or handcranks.
