I think of this as the 'upside' to having house guests. It's like "Spring Cleaning" but at other times of the year. It's also the time when we find the missing: sock, key, pen, half cookie, (depending upon the family) child, etc., etc. In So.East Asia we could afford a housekeeper and a cook.
Here in Japan we can just barely afford a vacuum cleaner (Hoover?) and a dust rag.
