Not to be dissing library patrons- most of them are really careful (they're library lovers, after all). But there's that remaining 20% who thinks because it's public property they can trash it...
Very interesting about the GVPL's experiment, though. I'm not sure how practical it is as of yet, but I'm sure it's the way of the future.

I realize that but the majority of people won't want to pay the fine of 150 so maybe they would be "nice to the thing" and really what else other that drop or get it wet can happen to it. I mean it has a $40 cover and a screen protector on it (I think but not sure) so drops shouldn't be much of a problem.
