It's because it's an automated site; they are picking up a list of annoying public domain stuff that Amazon has added thru it's DTP system, that are not labeled as "public domain books" under the publisher (which is how you manage to eliminate several thousand books when searching -domain and sorting by price).

There are also 29 of them in German that are now free (also public domain, presumably in the US, since I see them in the US store).
