I never said the nook couldn't. If anything, one could read my post and infer that the nook can do that

For the nook I HAD to go to different sites to find the books I wanted because B&N didn't have them all. The one I couldn't find on kindle title was a free book and the publishers site had it in kindle format. Next you will find that the kindle versions usually run a bit cheaper though this can vary based on title.
More in the US, but not everywhere. And even still, that is debatable, because Amazon has never released any sales figures.

When it comes to the books, most of what I buy, Amazon is more expensive, or just doesn't have it.

Only a few don't have waiting lists. I also fully expect libraries to eventually adopt the kindle format or a compatible format due to kindles popularity. Project Gutenburg (sp?) has ton's of titles free as well and all are in kindle format also.

Anyway.. not trying to sell the kindle, but the free to purchase anywhere argument doesn't mix well with reality.
It varies. The library where I just moved to has a nice selection, and most of what I want isn't on backorder. Plus there are some big libraries that allow nonresidents to join in, and don't have much of a wait list for books.
