Well, it showed up today, surprising as it came from California while the flash card came from New Jersey and I'm on the east coast and they both showed up at the same time. Gotta love NewEgg's shipping, always been rather fast. Anyway, first impressions are good, the unit was packaged as if it was brand new, which it may be for all I know. The box was sealed and seemed unopened, the unit had the static cling with the display simulation on it, the batteries were still packaged like new, the USB cable was in a plastic bag with the tie wrap on it, User manual included and a coupon for 2 bucks off Energizer Lithium batteries that doesn't expire until March of next year.
The unit powered up just fine and I messed around with the font size a bit, messed with all the controls, browsed a few books and everything seems fine. It has firmware version .16e, patch 16, which is the latest if I'm correct. At this point I'm going to read over all the guides and tips on here for it, back it up to my computer, and see about reformatting it and the flash card for FAT 32 and go from there. I'll update once I'm done, or if I have any problems.
So far I'd have to say if anyone is on the fence about one of these NewEgg open box readers, I'd say go for it and give it a shot.
