Guys - there's a whole market out there with people commissioning others to write ebooks and articles on all sorts of subjects, where the writers hand over all rights in the works to the buyers. The buyers then, most usually, sell those ebooks and articles on their websites in a range of different packages, with different rights attached - some might simply be the right to publish the articles on your own website, others might be the right to resell the ebooks but with no right to resell the resell rights, others might be full
'master resell rights' where you can resell the right to resell the material, or
'private label resell rights' where you have full rights to edit the content of the ebook or article and put your own name to it as author, resell it, use it as you wish, etc.
Needless to say, the original writers don't get paid much for these, and the quality is...um...variable. If you browse the ads on
Elance, you'll see lots of jobs for ebooks and articles in this vein. The writers aren't getting ripped off - they know exactly what they're being asked to provide. The questionable aspect, though, is when material that has started life in this way is subsequently sold as quality material to unsuspecting customers looking for, for example, "Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Turtles" or whatever.
