Dedicated e-book readers could still be around in years to come. But to do that prices will have to drop tremendously.

And that may happen. In the early '70s the major cities had calculator stores. At least in New York & Boston.

At the time the HP-35 was selling around $350 - $400!




Now you can go to the Dollar Tree, and if you're willing to buy in bulk, you can get calculators for about 50 cents ($1 for a package of two).



The one thing that a dedicated e-book reader has over a tablet is that the tech doesn't have to get a lot better.

Having said that, the next reader I buy will probably be a Nook Color (and then root it).
