Calibre no longer seeing SD card

I'm using Calibre 0.7.47, running on Ubuntu Linux 10.04, with a Sony PRS-650.

Everything worked nicely until about a week ago, when Calibre stopped "seeing" files on the SD card in my Reader or even recognising that the Reader has a card inserted. Both card and files are still visible through the operating system and the Reader works perfectly well with books on the card, so I don't have any reason to think it's down to a card fault.

I've tried the obvious basics (rebooting my pc, the Reader, removing and reinserting the card), none of which have made any difference. I'm beginning to wonder if the Calibre metadata on the card might have got screwed up in some way, but I'd appreciate any suggestions. I've done nothing by way of adding, removing or editing files outside Calibre.

Thanks,
Ian
