My blackberry is like your ipod. I used to carry around: two cell phones (one for work and one for me), an electronic book reader and an MP3 player. Now I standardized on the blackberry and thats all I carry these days.
Sounds like all you need is a cell phone and you are on your way. I believe a iphone can repalce the ipod and add the phone calling as well so in your case a iphone would be your equivilant of my blackberry.
