OR harass and annoy you because for whatever reason they DON'T like the way you look. Hate-based stalking occurs all the time on the net. I somewhat agree with the rest of your post. There are just too many weird, inappropriate, and offensive men on the Internet, in general, to put yourself out there like that. I'm sure there are some insane women as well, but they're not the ones I generally worry about.

I guess women never can be too safe. I probably sound a little biased, but my husband fully believes that anyone who spends significant time on Internet forums is weird and socially inept (excluding yours truly, of course ) and I've probably adopted his point of view without even intending to, and the last thing I'd want to do is expose anything about myself, personally, to such people. And even if everyone else is on whatever forum I'm on is completely sane, I'm still not interested in exposing my appearance to them. I also don't care about what other people on the Internet look like. I mean...this is an Internet forum. Nobody owes complete strangers a picture of themselves.

I will readily admit to showing my picture on at least three other forums over the past ten years or so. No problems ever came of that; the forums where I have displayed my likeness without blinking an eye were...how can I say this in a politically correct way? I guess you could say they consisted of members who were similar to me, demographically. But as I've grown older I guess I've grown a bit more paranoid. I have a blog, a Twitter, a Tumblr, a Facebook, and accounts on about 10 forums, and none of them reference the other and aside from Facebook, none of them have my likeness attached to them. I thought about posting my photo on my blog (where I write under a pen name), but since my blog address is in my signature on several forums, I've held off on that for the time being. I'm not trying to hide anything, but I do like staying under the radar.

Enough typing for now, though, I'm missing Hawaii Five-0. LOL.
