thanks for your quick response.

yes, i've seen that before (i looked there before posting). that's actually how i restored my database in the first place.

however, there is no database integrity check button on my calibre (latest version). only 'debug device detection' and 'open calibre configuration directory'. i'm not sure if that is the missing ingredient that i need to fix this, but it's not there where you show it in the FAQs.
