There are some regulars who have been shown in photographs here. I see it as being an as-needed thing. When it's appropriate, it'll happen.
There is a difference between anonymity for a prudence-and-safety perspective and the act of inventing a persona; back when Al Gore invented the Internet, anonymity was fun because you could be whoever you wanted. Now it's a necessity, like moving to a big city and getting in the habit of locking your car doors.
Besides, I think we all like having that little billboard to put up neat little pictures that represent our feelings at that particular point.
