I'm using one with Ubuntu.

in short - to buy and download drm books you have to use windows, either stand alone or in a virtual machine. The .ascm file is the adobe drm file that lets you download your purchase with adobe digital editions. You open it with ADE in windows whilst online and it will dl the book for you.

Once you have them you can manage them with Calibre (Calibre can list and move drm books but it won't display them) or strip the drm (in windows) then manage them the same way you would any other book. I've gone with option 2 and never bothered authorising my reader with ADE or the Sony library manager.
