They have to be obsessed with food and calories. They usually eat a whole lot of beans and soy. But yeah, the only two vegans I know do supplement with vitamin pills and other stuff.
Even if could stand living without meat (and not loose weight), I'd never become a vegan. You have to be obsessive, and most vegans I have met are fanatical about it, so much so that they think their choices should dictate the choices of the rest of us.
