wyndlash a coder I know told that his boss told them to put a small rubber duck on their desks and in case of appearing problems first talk to the duck since he got tired of them showing up at his place wanting to discuss some problems with tasks the currently worked on and then stopping in the mid saying "never mind, i see it now"
it may help in solving when temporarily reorganize the task you work on, into speech patterns.
so what you do isn't strange at all.
