lol Sorry.

Cornwell says the next one - #6 - is due out in October. The last one was out in October in the UK, but wasn't released here until the following January, though, so...

From what he said recently, I expect there will be at least one more after that.

I've noticed that it's not only the lengthy wait for book 4 that upset his fans, they also seemed disappointed with the story. There's a lot riding on this 5th one.
I thought the first 3 were pure greatness, but the 4th was crippled by only covering half the characters - the other characters were missed, and big developments couldn't proceed without them.

I went in expecting it to be awful, so wasn't too disappointed. Its being such a let-down from the 1st 3 made it easier to put the series down and wait.

This series has had more release dates that have been missed then just about any others I know of.

On top of that, the last book was not well received by anyone I know. They loved the first books but hated the last book. I think I will wait for it to actually come out and read some of the reviews starting with the ones in the middle. I don't trust the fan boys and don't want to slog through the negative reviews about how long it took for the book to come out.
I tend to trust this release date, for a few reasons:

- It's the first time an actual date has been given. Before, he'd just say he was hoping for a certain year or season. He quit doing that a few years ago, saying he wasn't going to say anything until he knew.

- Last October, he broke his silence and said he only had a few chapters to finish.

- (The biggest) He has HBO on his butt now.

I think you're right that everything hinges on this book. What worries me is that he seems to be over-thinking them.

His best books - 1st 3 - only took him ~2 years each to write - these have taken 5 each (10 total for the 1st write and re-write of this one).

Anyway, I'm hopeful, and I'll be on it, just because it's fun, but I really won't be surprised if this disappoints.
