There an interesting paper investigating
Gender* Differences in Receptivity to Sexual Offers. The experiment was with college students, of course, on a college campus.
About 50% of men or women in the study said Yes when asked (by a 'plain clothes' researcher of the opposite sex): "I have been noticing you around campus. I find you very attractive. Would you go out with me tonight?"
So: Ask! You probably have a better than 50% chance of getting a "yes" for a date.
You (being a woman) could get that up to 70% or more by changing the question you ask, but I don't advise that strategy. See the paper for the details:
