I checked your blog, and I did see you tried a lot of formats. You did may want to give Microsoft Reader another shot - the one format you didn't try is the only format Microsoft Reader supports - Lit format. I don't think you need to go through all the activation steps to read unprotected Lit files, which is what Calibre would produce.
