Yes, it's reasonable. It's a fairly safe assumption he turned in a completed manuscript, and the current work is addressing the issues raised in the editor's revision letter.

Bantam is unlikely to have scheduled this unless it was in the final edits stage, and they've probably fast-tracked the production. They will turn the schedule inside out for a book like this.
