When you make the text larger by changing the font to anything other than "S" the PRS-650 can't keep the relation of the text and and figures changes, so the PRS-650 can't keep them lined up, so it just displays text only.
If you want a larger sized image with everything still displayed as it should be on the page, you need to leave the font size set to "S" and use the ZOOM function.
One nice feature of the ZOOM view, is that you can just DRAG the zoomed page image with your finger to reposition it. You can tell where you are in the zoom view by looking at the little page position graphic in the lower right side of the screen, but remember that it will move in the direction of the part of the page you are viewing, which is the opposite direction in which you are dragging.
There is some lag while dragging because of the time needed to update the slow e-ink screen, and your pictures may blank out temporarily while dragging. This is normal, any images on the page will reappear when you stop dragging the image.
