Take this app for example - Google Goggles. It's a great search tool. You take a picture with your device and the app will identify the object or translate the text or find stores selling it, etc.

The problem is, Google requires an auto-focusing camera in order to use this app. That means I can't use it on my iPod touch 4. It also means the new iPad won't be able to use it. The Galaxy Tab on the other hand can use it, as with most of the newer smartphones.

Lack of a compass or GPS also prevents me from using some cool apps.
