You need one of the jailbreaks, either the first message in this thread should have a link, or the font/screensaver hack thread has another jailbreak. Download the zip file and extract the one for your 3g version.
Place the BIN file on your kindle when you connect it to your computer. Then press Home, Menu, select Settings, press menu again and select restart.
Do the same procedure with the screensaver or font hack, zip, extract the proper bin, place on the root of kindle and restart.
