1) do not install from the Ubuntu Repository: It is old before it the distro is released

(Calibre's cycle is weekly, Ubuntu is semi-annual .
Just open a terminal and paste that (long) command found on the Linux download page. Great Joy
(NB it runs well on 10.10)
