I just finished reading a Kindle book on my Nook Color earlier today.

Any Nook device is capable of reading books from the Sony store out of the box.

I can get any book I own on any of my three currently active devices, or the iPaq I have in the drawer. I could put them on my Palm if I replaced the screen (I can do it, I just don't feel the need to do when I have enough other devices).

Just about any book can be read on any device if one is willing to put in the effort - which ranges from trivial to significant.

For me, the fact that my 47-year-old eyes are more comfortable with a larger screen means that sticking to a smartphone for all my reading would be sub-optimal for me.

I also read comics on my device, and a 3.7" screen really isn't big enough for me to do that comfortably - and panel-by-panel view doesn't provide the same experience.
