"I am allowed the power of changing my form as suits the observation of the moment." - Mary Robinson (1758-1800), quote circa 1777.
Robinson was one of the most infamous and scandalous women of her age. She was a famed actress, and after a crippling disease, became a best-selling author. But in spite of her fame, she died penniless as she was born, having accumulated too many pre-publicatino debts on her works. I am always reminded of her around movie awards season when so many pretty young things with nothing in their heads flit about in front of photographers. They could stand to learn a thing or two from thier historical betters.
