I can't for the life of me think of an email that would be so important that I couldn't leave it untill after whatever I am doing. I know if my wife started checking her email at the dinner table I would be very annoyed, I never do it. I guess I am old fashioned, I still refuse to answer the phone when I am eating, taking a shower, reading late in the evening, on the loo or while making passionate love to my wife, I personally can't think of anything that can't wait the few minutes it takes to finish.
I will always call people rather than SMS/TEXT I think texts are ruining the world, I'm not joking. Just today I saw a policewoman on a motorbike sending a text message and ran into the car in front of her, luckily for her we were driving slow and she got away with nothing more than wounded pride and embarrassment. You see people here riding motorcycles on the highway sending text messages, that might not be so bad, but the driver in the cars are doing it too. I guess thats not really rude as the OP intended, but it is stupid.
