Aldiko will "communicate with Calibre." It just has to do it via the content server.

Aldiko import has changed in many important details with version 2 but the flow is still the same up until you enter Aldiko to do the import. And it's no longer necessary but is still wise to use the Import folder.
Do you know if version 2 will import from other folders, or,will it leave the book in the original folder and just grab a link to the book? Laputa will do the latter. My Archos device is peculiar in that both the main memory and the sdcard are part of the main memory. Its memory is organized so that the real sdcard is mounted as /sdcard/sdcard, and many devices that assume the sdcard is in /sdcard eat up my limited memory,
