It has been reported that the Amazon covers without light cause frequent restarts of the Kindle and drain the battery. The same has been reported about the Kate Spade covers. Amazon has stopped selling the covers since.
My Stepdaughter had the same problem, she reported it to Amazon CS - she got a refund plus US$20.- which she used to purchase the Amazon cover with light.
