The majority of your requests seem to be for very limited uses. Given the length of the list of things that already need to be done, and the number of people spread very thin between them, it's doubtful that there's going to be much attention paid to what amounts to "making it pretty for guests" -- especially since, as far as I know, only a small percentage of calibre users have guest users of any type to begin with.
Also, I can't see calibre being turned into a video indexing program. Aside from the platform issues, there are licensing issues for playback and even those sample video clips you recommend. I can think of no good reason for the developers of an ebook organizer to start trying to do other things when there are still so many ebook-related things that need to be done.
Of course ... there's always the stock answer: Calibre is fully open and all the source is available, along with documentation, help, and advice for setting up a development environment. Code donations are certainly not frowned on!
