Sorry, forgot to reply to that. I got a HTC Tattoo because it was cheap(er) and looked good (always a critical factor for me). To be honest, there isn't much wrong with it except that it's not an iThingie, and I am used to my iTouch and love it and not feeling especially motivated to learn how to get the best of Android. So I use the Tattoo as a phone only, except in the few cases when I need to use Google Maps or to check my mail or MR while travelling. For the rest I still use the iTouch (which is why it's becoming a bit crowded).

I can understand the frustrations with iTunes, but personally I like it, I'm used to it and it's perfect for my needs. Also I am a long time Mac user, and although I do feel annoyed sometimes at their control-freak attitude, I also know there's something in it for me, namely stable and easy to use systems for my computer and mobile device.

By the way, I just updated the songs on my iTouch and I must say the Music settings look very versatile to me. You can check playlists, artists, genres and albums to include them, and you can also drag individual songs to the iPod to copy them. That's enough for me!
