Well, I'm pretty sure we have the same grammatical rules. In school we were taught 'algemeen Nederlands'. But I totally agree, Flemish sounds so much better than Dutch
My parents live right next to the border. They go shopping in Hulst. One time I found a dictionary Dutch - Flemish. Subtitle: van ambetanterik tot zwanzen. I thought that was really funny. Those are words I use often, but I never thought about the fact that the Dutch don't understand those words.
(A couple of weeks ago, a Dutch friend told me the Flemish accent is really charming. I'm guessing he never heard anyone from the West of Flanders talking
