Terribly sorry for my misunderstanding of your post and trying to help... you said in your OP, "Both of those times the battery went from half charge to no charge in the blink of an eye. Also the reader swaps colors. The words turn white and the background turns black. It then prints the pages on top of each other instead of wiping for page turns." and then, "And to top it off the refurb has the message "Test Mode Available" in the upper left corner all the time except in sleep mode." all of which leads to the conclusion that both had the color swap problem with the refurb additionally having the "Test Mode Available" showing...
