I have just downloaded and installed the nook for blackberry reader now I can read nook books and amazon books, not something you all with dedicated readers can acomplish on one device.

I've read books I bought from the Kindle store on my Sony (though it did require conversion) and more to the point, I'm reading a Kindle book on my Nook Color at the moment: So I for one can certainly read both Nook and Kindle books on the same dedicated reader device.
I actually think "dedicated" is the wrong term, and that optimized would probably be better. While my NC was sold as a dedicated reader, now that it's been rooted it's more of a general purpose device, but the hardware is still optimized for reading, and it's certainly not a smartphone.
The key is that I can read all the same books on my NC that I can on my smartphone, but with a larger and easier to read screen. It's a better device for reading because that's what it was designed for.
My Droid is much better for a lot of other things, but my NC is a better reader.
