My mother kept things as long as we had room to store them, and we always had room to store them. So, I have lot's from just days after I was born, or she does, really.
I do have the first comic I bought with my own money when I was three (1970). I also have a Swiss Army watch that I've worn, nearly every day, for the past twenty years.
