I'd ask for a bit more. I remember when, about ten years ago, you could get most of the parts needed to build a computer free after rebate.
US$99 with a $99 active content gift certificate, for the previous model, should be possible.
As for improvements, make the the background white, not grey. Whether this is technically feasible, I don't know.
Someone previously mentioned subdirectories. This could be provided by third party amazon.com developers for the price of a game, if Amazon let them, and Amazon would share in the revenue. Why don't they allow this? Why don't they allow amazon.com third party developers to produce screen savers? Maybe their lawyers are afraid of getting sued if the features come included with a future operating system. Or maybe not.
