Google Mobile on Kindle 3

I have noticed that different Google sites that have mobile versions show very differently on my PC and on my Kindle. And in fact, the mobile version on my PC looks much more usable than the one on Kindle. This is true of GMail, but also of Google Maps. When I go to http://maps.google.com/m and search for a location, on my PC (Firefox) I end up with a very simple page that is easy to navigate, no unnecessary. On Kindle, I am redirected to a selection of results (even if there is only one) and that takes me always to the full desktop version of Google Maps that are difficult to navigate on Kindle.

Mobile version of Gmail also seems better in Firefox, at least in terms of attachment handling.

I guess there is some browser detection in the background - any remedies for this?
