@mortis: indeed. i remember one time my sister told me about her friend's encounter with the singapore police. well, she was with her. they were shopping, and her friend was kidding around, placing an item in her pocket. well, she forgot about it as they walked out, and soon the police was behind them. they didn't want to hear her explanation, just asked her if she did it or not; that was all they were interested in. after she said she did and returned the item (i don't remember if she bought it after that or not; probably did), they left them alone. scary.
