Different strokes for different folks; my cheapest, nastiest, faded Penguin paperback from the 1960s has better contrast in dim light than my Kindle 3, and the e-ink on my K3 is far better than on my original CyBook (and being a couple of e-ink generations newer I'd expect it to be) but as good as the K3 is it
isn't paper. Now for reading outdoors, in the garden, on holiday etc... no problem, e-ink all the way, but indoors or in shade then the iPad does the best job
for me. I don't find it heavy - it's lighter than many hardbacks, and a heck of a lot thinner - nor the other functions distracting, but that's more of a personal thing I think <shrug>
