Assuming Tiersten is correct that a Kindle can be rolled back given a full copy of older firmware, that appears to imply another Kindle with older firmware won't be necessary if one exercises some foresight: Prior to installing an Amazon update, make a full copy of the firmware of your Kindle, so the copy will be available later if you want to roll back to it.

My question is, what is the procedure? What are the steps to copy the firmware from a Kindle? What are the steps to restore the copy to the Kindle?
